Leeds Grand Theatre - Heritage Open Day
Sonic City recorded many stories from both staff and theatre goers at the Heritage Open Day on 14th September, 2008. Heritage Open Days are co-ordinated each year be The Civic Trust in partnership with English Heritage.

From the day the doors first opened with a performance of Shakespeare?s Much Ado About Nothing in November 1878, audiences have kept returning to enjoy performances in this beautiful Grade II* listed Victorian theatre.

From opera to ballet and musicals to pantomimes the Grand has captivated audiences throughout the decades with its performances and stunning architecture. Widely regarded as a major milestone in Victorian theatre design, many of its original features have been celebrated and restored through the Transformation Project.

As the Grand is now in its 130th year we have been capturing people?s memories of this special venue, to ensure the stories and traditions associated with this wonderful theatre can be shared with generations to come.

The Learning and Interpretation Programme at the Grand Theatre is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
